Mission Statement

Yonge Street Mission is called to demonstrate God’s love, peace and justice to people living in economic, social and spiritual poverty in Toronto.

As a not-for-profit Christian faith community, we acknowledge that every person is created in the image of God and has inherent value and dignity.

We assist as many people as possible to experience full participation in society.

We do this by:

1. Responding to basic human needs.
2. Inspiring people to achieve their full potential.
3. Offering services, programs and networks of mutual support, which enable those in need to improve their lives.
4. Providing opportunities for people to hear and respond to the Christian message of God’s love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
5. Assisting individuals and families to break the cycle of poverty in their lives.
6. Being a catalyst for healthy change within the community we serve.
7. Encouraging those we serve to participate in, and contribute to, the life of their community.
8. Cultivating a godly, committed and qualified team of staff and volunteers.
9. Developing strategic partnerships with churches, individuals, agencies, governments and businesses.

Donating to CARE

CARE Mission and Support from Sandy and Tanya Hutchens

CARE’s mission has evolved over the decades. CARE continues to provide emergency relief during and after disasters, but the organization today focuses on addressing underlying causes of poverty. In areas such as health, HIV/AIDS, natural resources, education and economic development, CARE works to empower women, because experience has shown that women’s gains yield dramatic benefits for families and communities. CARE also advocates for policies that defend human rights and promote the eradication of poverty.

Today CARE International is an international confederation composed of twelve national members. Each member is an autonomous non-governmental organisation in its own right, registered and governed according to national law as a charitable body.

Sandy Hutchens Donates to Free The Children Canada

Feeding hungry children in Canada and around the world

Take a good look into the eyes of hungry children and you will see children with real hopes, real fears, and a very real need to eat. It doesn’t matter where they live. All that matters is that they need someone to change their world.

Millions of people around the world are in desperate need. Poverty, death, disease, and disasters wreak havoc in their lives. Little children are the ones who suffer the most from these problems, and they are the ones most desperately in need of your help. Changing their world is easier than you think.

Amazingly, thousands of these children are receiving a nourishing meal at a cost of just pennies a day, through our Feed-A-Child program.

Charity in the new decade

Sandy and Tanya Hutchens feel that it is our obligation and, indeed, our pleasure to give back to the community and to the charities that know how to work in their independent areas of expertise to effectively help those who need it, Whether it is in the area of medical causes, poverty concerns, or animal rights issues we feel that we are fortunate and privileged to be able to contribute.
